WCD talks to Mr Nguyen Huy Minh, co-founder and general director of Sunshine Holdings, a consulting and impact investing firm from Hanoi, Vietnam to find out about what they are doing to shape the world.
World Company Day (WCD): What do you do as a company?
Nguyen Huy Minh (NHM): Founded since August 2015, Sunshine Holding is a leading consulting and impact investment company in providing the overall consulting solutions of Business development for Vietnam enterprises and organizations operating within Vietnam and ASEAN region.
WCD: What is your purpose as a company and why is it Important?
NHM: We do our best to support local enterprises to improve the efficiency in business performance, optimizing internal resources and ensure the adaptability and sustainable growths of the local environment as well as create more sustainable jobs for local labors.
WCD: Give an example of how a product or a service provided by you is making an impact in shaping a better world?
NHM: I can think of two examples: Hai Hau Organica in Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province recovers Traditional Tam Xoan rice seeds which had been lost since the 1990s and plants them in a 30 hector square, bringing 30% higher income for 400 farmer families in Hai Toan commune.
The V-Cell Mobile in Tinh Gia district, Thanh Hoa province collects used mobile phones, refurbishes and distributes them in the Vietnam market. Before V-Cell had been set up, this was the empty area with many jobless people. We invested in 1000 square meters with professional infrastructure and created high incomes for 23 local labors. Besides, used mobile phones in Vietnam are mostly illegal because they evade government taxes. We collect them from consumers, refurbish them and pay taxes to the government. We also apply environment protection solutions to reduce electronic waste.
WCD: Share an example of how you are working with suppliers and partners to improve the state of the industry or the world? NHM: We cooperated with our partner, Center of Development and Integration (CDI), a local NGO, to build a Quality Standard – Vietfarm Foundation to support small agricultural businesses in order to develop their quality, production and distribution to global markets. WCD: Tell us a special moment when a customer gave you a feedback that helped you understand the difference that you are making for them and for a better world. NHM: Most of our customers thank us for our efforts and contribution to maintain and develop local products as well as support the farmers. WCD: In your opinion, why is World Company Day Important?NHM: World Company Day is remarkable as it motivates all the companies in the world to make things happen and to do the right things the right way. WCD: At the end of the day, how do you know if your company has contributed towards shaping a better world? NHM: We can see more and more happiness in the eyes of our recruited labors when they can bring their sustainable salaries home at the end of the month. WCD: Thank you for your sharing. |
